Ahhh…
My Taekwondo tournament was today. I woke up at 6:45 this morning I then left at 7:30 for school (I left my stuff there, hehe). I arrived at the Cebu Doctors gym at 9, I was supposed to arrive there at 8 though. As usual, they started late (30 minutes after I arrived). I had to wait for my first fight for 3 hours. The few minutes before I fought, I was extremely umm… Shall I say scared? That five minute fight felt like 30 minutes. In the end, it was worth it; I WON!
A few minutes after, I the mom and dad of the students my teacher trains invited me to join them for lunch. We left and rode at the back of a multi cab. It was kinda’ fun since the wind blows your face. We stopped at a place less than a kilometer from the tournament. They were really warm and hospitable; and I thank them for that. When we ate, it started to rain; so we had to wait till the rain turns into a slight drizzle, which ended up making the place cool. We then arrived.
I waited for 2 or 3 hours for my next fight. My legs started to alienate me, as if they weren’t a part of my body; they felt very heavy in fact. I wore my now soggy gi (I forgot the Korean term) The tournament starts…
As the fight started, I was really scared since I was fighting for the gold medal. A constant problem for the round was that I push my opponent without even being aware of it (there’s no time to think of an action in a fight; it’s all reflexes!), I recieved 3 warnings and that was only for the first round. As the first round started, I rushed to the opponent only ending up being axe kicked on my nose. My nose started to bleed! The referees paused the fight for a few minutes.
I was determined to win.
I convinced the referees that I will continue this fight; so the second round began. I blocked all his high kicks; unfortunately, the second and the first round was a tie. They started a third round; this means that it’s a sudden death round. The first one to make a hit wins. Again, I recieved alot of warnings for pushing, hehe. All the effort did not go to waste, that sound of the first hit, relieved me.
I WON THE GOLD MEDAL!
As the fight ended, my opponent and I shared smiles. We both knew that this was a good fight.
